Vetswest Ltd

Vetswest is a group of over 250 veterinary practices (over 500 individual practice sites), who use their collective size to improve the efficiency with which they buy products and services. The group was set up by veterinary surgeons on behalf of vets who's aim it is to preserve traditional values whilst using modern medicine.

Mission Statement

  1. To be the provider of centralised invoicing for veterinary medicines, consumables and services to maximize the benefit of group purchases
  2. To provide high-quality independent CPD at a competitive price
  3. To offer members additional services and seek new opportunities beyond traditional buying group activities in areas that the membership desires

History

Vetswest started as a group of 9 practices, which in 1990 decided that buying medicines and working together as professionals with increased respect for their neighbours resulted in a better working life and allowed their practices to thrive. By the end of 1991 Vetswest had grown to around 20 practices, using the services of an outside manager to guide us in the buying of medicines and working with the different companies. We have always been about improving relationships in the profession, and that continues to be a cornerstone of everything we do.

The development of the company has come about thanks to a great deal of effort from our hard working office staff and continual revision of our data processing platform, and dedication from everyone on the team to retain traditional ethics whilst helping members to provide cost effective modern medicine to their clients.

Throughout our development, relationships with companies have been nurtured and we can offer terms with all the major manufacturers. Practice profitability depends more on building services and sales, rather than just buying better which has a definitive end point, so manufacturers are important partners to us.

Information about our use of cookies and tracking technologies

Our website, located at www.vetswest.co.uk, uses cookies and tracking technologies to distinguish you from other users of our website. This helps us to provide you with a better experience while you browse our website, and also allows us to improve our website.

By continuing to browse the website, you are expressly agreeing to our use of cookies and tracking technologies as set out in this Cookie Policy. See "Managing cookies & opting out" to manage your cookie preferences.

What are cookies and tracking technologies?

(a)   Cookies

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers sent by a website to your computer or mobile device where it is stored by your browser if you agree. Cookies contain information which enables a website to recognise you as you move around the site and/or each time you revisit.  Cookies may be sent by the website that you are visiting or by another organisation which provides services to that website, such as an advertising network or analytics company.

(b)   Web beacons and other tracking technologies

Web beacons are small bits of code that communicate with third parties and are embedded in web pages, ads or in emails. Web beacons and other tracking technologies, such as gif, page tags and script, are often used together with web browser cookies to help website publishers to better analyse and improve their services and to target advertising based on your browsing behavior and interests.

Our use of cookies

We use a variety of types of cookies and other tracking technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website, use a shopping cart or make use of e-billing services.
  •  Analytical/performance cookies. These are cookies that allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it.  This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.

  •    Functionality cookies. These are used to recognise you when you return to our website.  This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (e.g., your choice of language or region).
  • Targeting cookies. These cookies record your visit to our website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make our website and the advertising displayed on it more relevant to your interests. We may also share this information with third parties for this purpose.

You can find more information about the individual cookies we use and the purposes for which we use them in the table below:
